Highlights: City views, easy access
Length: 0 - 2 hours
Where: Walk from the CBD
What to take: Active wear, camera

The quintessential Wellington walk, no self respecting website of this nature would be complete without a shout out to one of the most walked of them all - Mount Victoria.
Getting there: While a car is certainly not necessary if you're already in the CBD, you can drive to the top of Majoribanks Street and start the walk from there, or if you're just after some quick views you can also drive up to the top, with plenty of carparks at the top on Lookout Road.
While there are multiple access points, the classic route takes you up Majoribanks Street to Charles Plimmer Park, at which point you can follow either the signposted or well-worn, but less official, ascent up the hill to the summit, which should take roughly 20 minutes. It's almost impossible to get lost up here as, aside from there being plenty of others around, there are views of the city through the trees for most of the walk. If you're after something a bit more substantial, there is also the option to walk to the summit of Mt Alfred, either via the Summit Walkway or the lower Hataitai to City Walkway. A great one for visitors and locals alike.
